Chairmaking is a strength. Tim Warlick can build from a drawing, make copies from a sample chair or work with the client to create an original design. His many years experience and expert knowledge of traditional chairmaking ensure an excellent result.
"I'm fortunate that in my time as an antiques restorer I was able to get my hands on some of the best 18th C. seat furniture made. Doing conservational repairs on pieces from the workshops of George Seddon, William Hallet or the Jacob Brothers, I felt like I was working for them and I wanted to make the bosses happy. I learned about making a proper chair.
Traditional chair joinery is always used in my shop. Production methods like dowels and floating tenons are more suited for production shops and production designs. There are some great, classic chairs made that way but the traditional joint chair suits me and the way I work."
